Architectural Designer (Hybrid)
Lucy Wang Architecture is hiring a part-time Architectural Designer.
This is a hybrid position. Applicants must currently be based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Remote candidates will not be considered.
We are a Berkeley-based architecture and real estate studio that helps clients discover properties with untapped potential and transform them into their dream homes. The studio is currently working on a gut renovation of a single-family home that is under construction, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction administration.
-
The ideal candidate is a highly creative and detail-oriented architectural designer who shares our aesthetic sensibilities, our belief that interior design is as integral to a project as architecture, and will push our team to continue to create wonderful projects and spaces. Experience on a small team working on complex single-family residential projects is ideal but not required. The role will require supporting construction administration, the production of documents and presentations for both Architecture and Interior Design, 3D modeling, supplier outreach, and product sourcing support. The Architectural Designer will work under the Project Architect in all phases of innovative residential architecture from initial concept to finish installation.
-
B.Arch or M.Arch degree
1+ years of architectural design experience; experience working on high-quality single-family residential projects strongly preferred
Passion for design, from concept to execution
Ability to understand complex design concepts and directives
Ability to manage deadlines and balance priorities between multiple projects
Independent self-starter as well as a team player who thrives in a highly collaborative environment
Excellent verbal, written, organizational and time-management skills
1+ years of experience with Archicad or equivalent BIM software (e.g. Revit) required
Proficiency with BIM software (Archicad or Revit), vector software (Illustrator or Affinity), spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), document markup (Preview or Bluebeam) and AI tools (ChatGPT or Gemini)
If not already, a commitment to advanced proficiency in Archicad, the BIM software we use
A love for interiors - we are as much interior designers as we are architects
-
Support the Project Architect in completing tasks and meeting deadlines
Draft construction documents in Archicad, a BIM software similar to Revit
Attend construction site visits and take concise notes
Support construction administration, assist with RFIs and submittals
Create design documents such as client presentations, finish and fixture schedules, and FF&E proposals
Prepare and coordinate FF&E proposals and orders, including communication with suppliers
Communicate effectively and respectfully with staff, consultants, clients, contractors, and suppliers
Demonstrate a working knowledge of building and zoning codes and trade resources, while continuing to develop deeper code expertise and applying it creatively to projects
Continue to stay abreast of industry trends and changes
-
Part-time and project-based
Compensation commensurate with experience
Location: Hybrid (remote work with in-person meetings and site visits in Berkeley and Oakland)
